Under the direction of the Bishop, a Ward Music Chairman may organize musical programs for various ward activities, firesides, or perhaps a special Easter or Christmas program in sacrament meeting. Here are some ward musical program ideas. Ward Musical Fireside This is a perfect solution to allow ward members to perform music that isn’t necessarily sacrament meeting approved. Try organizing a Sunday evening musical fireside where members can share their musical skills through classical music, EFY music, or African-American spirituals. Performers can even pull out some of those non-sacrament meeting approved instruments like an acoustic guitar or trumpet. Road Shows Road shows are a long-standing tradition in the church probably dating back to President George Albert Smith who, as a youth, literally had a show on the road which entertained many.

Today many wards and stakes continue to do road shows with their youth. These have typically been under the direction of the Young Men/Young Women organizations.
Christmas Sacrament Meeting Programs
As wards/stakes prepare for road shows ward/stake members are called upon to provide assistance. This includes musicians who tend to be heavily involved in these types of events. Preparing for programs such as road shows can be a great way to get all musicians in the ward involved, pianists and other instrumentalists, directors and singers who can train and teach music to the youth, and of course those creative types who can compose a witty song or change the text of an existing song to turn it into a hilarious show stopper.
